The place is owned by a designer and artist couple Sarah and Rich Combs. They find the desert a place where you can concentrate on what really matters in life. It may be feeling a bit desolate but it gives you the opportunity to do whatever you want.

The decor goals for them where to let the house lead their design decisions. The shiplap ceilings and concrete floors it has so much character already. They wanted to let those qualities shine and bringing more outdoor colors in. For example the colors of the sand, the blues of the sky, the color of peaches etc.

The favorite part of the design process was finding the unique items for the house. The biggest challenge was finding the time to drive the eight hours from San Francisco to Joshua Tree and spending time there.
