I can always find a reason to go into a city or town and stroll around. For the shops, a beautiful building, a special area, good views, a beach, anything that is new to me. The same with Nelson. I only had seen a photo of some Victorian-era workers cottages in Nelson that I wanted to see.
I couldn’t find it in my travel guide so we went for some information to the I-Site in Nelson. They send us to South Street, next to the Art Deco Christ Church Cathedral.
South Street in Nelson
Where can I find these cottages?
The South Street is just a small street with lots of wooden cottages from around 1860. I just really like cottages like this. The wood, the colors, the window panels, the flowers in front of the windows, the porches, the roofs and the gorgeousness.
When I see cottages like these, I want to celebrate Christmas in them. I want to fire up the fireplace. I want to drink hot chocolate and eat cookies. I want to have a dog and a cat and chickens in my garden. I want to have lots of flowers.
I don’t know what it is but these cottages make me dream of romantic nights, movie nights and future nights somewhere in the countryside.
I’ve never actually been in a cottage like this. I wish I had.
Unfortunately you can’t go inside any of these cottages here because people are living and owning them. But strolling around, taking pictures and just dreaming is enough for me.
Which one of the cottages is your favorite? I really like the one with the red and white details. I think it looks really cute and gorgeous but also a bit tough because of the bright red instead of the pastel colors. What do you think?
Safe travels, Claudia
