It’s almost time for the annual Dutch Design Week! From 18 till 26th of October, Eindhoven will be under the spell of Design. Design created by Dutch students and designers but also people from around the world who came to Eindhoven to either study or create something new.
It is a nine-day event with workshops, seminars, parties and exhibitions at many locations in the city. The Design Academy Eindhoven and the Eindhoven University of Technology creates a base of innovation for the city.
The initiative started about 12 years ago as a fair. Since then the event grew each year and had about 250.000 visitors last year.
I’m planning to go with friends in the last weekend of the event. I had to skip the event for the last two years as I was traveling but this year I will be there. Here is a sneak preview of what we can expect from the event.
DDW 2012 – Lotty Lindeman Furniture
DDW 2012 – David Laport
Dutch Design Week 2010 – Nieuwe Heren
These designs are all from previous events in the last four years. I’m really looking forward to the event and to seeing all the new designs they’ve came up with. I will definitely keep you posted. Check out the website for more information about tickets and venues.
