As a great lover of carpets and rugs, my attention is always drawn to interiors with something beautiful on the floor. I think a rug gives your interior more ambiance where you still need it. Therefore, it is possible that you will have more than one rug in your room. Not a problem at all! The latest trend is to combine rugs with each other by placing them over each other. A super unique idea! This kind of ideas and inspiration I often find on Instagram. I believe I am now addicted to it. Wherever I am, I take pictures I (possibly) can use for my Instagram feed. The nice thing about it is that you can also browse through the photos of others with whom you have something in common. That is how I ended up at the feed of BolletjesKleed. A shared passion for South East Asia, cheerful colors and interior design, Instagram connected me to their feed. A very good match because I really love their collection of rugs.

Where does Felt Ball Rug come from?

FeltBallRugs.com sells Felt Ball Rugs made of felted balls in a variety of bright colors. The nice thing about these rugs is that they are 100% handmade and therefore unique. The wool which is used for the carpets comes from New Zealand. A place where a lot of wool comes from because it has about 21 million sheep. A beautiful and fascinating country to travel. The 100% wool balls are colored with dyes that are non-toxic, non-allergenic and free of AZO. This is super important because the people who work with it will also not be exposed to the chemical mess. BolletjesKleed has two workshops in Kathmandu, Nepal. In these workshops work women who make felt balls or put the balls together into rugs. Many of these women have children at home whom also need care and love, in addition, many of them are also illiterate. Something that makes them vulnerable in society. Because they can do the job for FeltBallRug.com from home, they have a lot of flexibility and they can still live comfortably and send their children to school.

The inspiring Nepalese team

Any woman who is working on a rug is mentioned on the label of the garment in question. The beauty of this system is that you can thank her personally for your handmade rug. The website lists all company employees with their personal email addresses. I would say, lets meet the wonderful team that is behind these unique rugs.

Create your own Felt Ball Rug!

There are colorful and plain round and rectangular rugs available at FeltBallRug.com but you can also choose your own colors. I plan to put my Felt Ball Rug in our nursery, which is why I chose a white design. The decor of the nursery is colorful, leaving me with the white carpet to evoke more calmness and ambiance.

But of course I have placed the carpet around my home to see how it looked in combination with our interior. For example, in our living room where you can find a lot of blue. Actually, more and more colors are getting into our interior, so a white rug always comes in handy.
