Bit by bit I’m showing you our new apartment. I’m not showing you the whole place yet because I’m not really happy with it yet. We need a new couch, I want a new carpet like a rose kilim, some more wall art and home decoration. Until then I’m showing you bits and pieces that I really like. For example my vintage cabinet with our Vietnamese Pottery. This 60’s cabinet comes from my parents home where it has been waiting for me for years. We bought the Vietnamese Pottery in Hoi An while we were traveling through Vietnam. We bought 90 pieces of which 85 made it safely home.

Home decoration from the Netherlands and Asia

Where does the home decoration come from? The pottery comes from Vietnam, the cabinet from the Netherlands and the handmade boxes on top of the cabinet come from Bali.

The print you see on top of the cabinet is one of my own. I’ve designed the print while we were traveling and sell them on Etsy. The knobs on the cabinet come from a home decor shop in Utrecht.

Vietnamese love their coffee. It’s a challenge for coffee lovers like our selfs to drink the powerful and sweet coffee that also has a taste of mocha and chocolate. In Vietnam they prepare the coffee on table with a French coffee maker. This creates a very strong taste and to make it a bit more sweet, Vietnamese add condensed milk. We bought a view coffee makers which you can see in the right corner in the upper image. We thought it would be cool piece of home decoration and part of our pottery.

The ‘masterpiece’ of our Vietnamese pottery is our big serving bowl for fruits, vegetables and other beautiful things.

Are you going to Vietnam or would you love to have a pottery like this? It’s really easy to buy a pottery in Vietnam and send it home. Especially in Hoi An, shops are specialized in sending everything overseas. It took three months before all our stuff arrived in the Netherlands. Everything but 5 pieces, of 90, were broken. Not bad right?

Would you like to have a foreign pottery like this as well or do you prefer to keep your pottery neutral and plain?
