One of the many lakes on the south island is Lake Tekapo. Its clear blue colour comes from the flour of stones. The town is not very big and mainly for tourists. Motels, hotels and a campsite are the only accommodation you can find here.
We walked up to the summit of Mt. John and treated ourselves with a hot spring at Lake Tekapo Springs.
It’s a great spot to stop between Christchurch and Queenstown. But don’t hurry too much because there is more to see between these two hubs.
For example, Mt. Cook and the beautiful highway that leads to it. Gorgeous views and a great drive. More about that later.
The pictures I’ve taken are during sun set. The sun shined on the other side of the lake where it created beautiful gold colors with in the background the mountains in the shadow.
Safe travels, xx
