I thought it became time to share our progress in the nursery for a change. I do share a lot on my Instagram account but I know that there are many DesignClaud readers that don’t have or use Instagram that much.
Since two months we are living in this cute wooden house, so there is still enough to do but the main things are done. We are almost ready for our new baby in February. Around the 16th week of my pregnancy we decided that we wanted to do an ultrasound to find out what the sex of the baby is. I was 100% sure that it was a boy but I was wrong.. We are getting a girl. A baby girl.
With the sex as an inspiration for the colors of the nursery, my mum began to crochet a blanket. At that point I had to decide the colors, which would also be the colors of the nursery. I’m not really a pink kind of girl so it was easy to skip that color. I went with blue, green, yellow and gray and white as a neutral base. You will see the blanket she did for the nursery in the pictures.
The door to the nursery has a gorgeous word banner of A Little Lovely Company with dozens of letters and symbols to create fun banners.
The roof of the nursery is pitched so that makes it a bit harder to decide on the bigger pieces of furniture. Fortunately I have a very handy dad who makes the most beautiful pieces of furniture. He created this beautiful cot and wardrobe for our nursery. I told him what I really loved and he came with all of this. Isn’t he amazing?
Here you can also see my mums crochet blanket and a beautiful blanket from Fabulous Goose. The carpet is from a Dutch shop called Xenos with some other decorations as well.
I’m getting so many postcards that I really want to keep plus birth announcements from other friends and family that I decided to buy this postcard rack for on the wall from Hema.
Since a week or so Hema also sells Christmas decorations. That is were this star garland comes from. Besides that and above the cot hangs a poster from Miss Honeybird.
Because the nursery is not big enough to place a dresser as well, we decided to place that in our bedroom next to the nursery. Here I decorated the wall with a yellow peg from Hema, the word banner from A Little Lovely Company, a jeans blouse from Hema and a self printed poster that I drew but inspired by Miss Honeybird.
On top of the wardrobe I put some small decorations. For example the house shaped photo frame and wooden box from Xenos. The wooden beads from Intratuin, a self printed poster of a panda and a bunny nightlamp from Kleinenfijn.nl.
The biggest decision I still have to make is the one about the photo frames and deer sticker above the cot. I’m not sure what to do with it. Maybe it’s too much all together above the cot or maybe not? Maybe the deer should be a on a funny place on the wall like near the floor?
Of course our nursery has also some items from IKEA. Like these photo frame edges. The chair underneath is my own ‘design’. I’ve made this chair years ago when I was studying interior design. It was originally in black and white but for the nursery I decided to use some happy colors.
For now I am either using this Eames chair in our nursery or a new one from Eames we are getting very soon. That pillowcase was only a few euro’s but makes me so happy. Fun bright lemons!
And last but not least the dresser in our bedroom. It’s a very old one but together with my dad we renovated it, put some new knobs on it and painted it white. It all still looks a bit too white here so next update you can expect more colors here as well. Working on it ;-)
Well, that was my first update! I enjoyed writing about our nursery and I hope you enjoyed reading about it. I would love to see your nursery as well, so definitely leave a link to your blog in the comments below.
Have a great weekend!
PS: I’m sorry for the blurry pics of my iPhone. Next time I will show you real pictures!
