It has been a while since I’ve been to Bali, almost 3 years! But it still feels like yesterday. I can’t believe how many posts I wrote during the 3 months we’ve stayed there about Bali. I wrote about massages in Bali that we took almost every week, I wrote about the restaurants in Canggu, the markets in Bali and lots more. Find them all here in my Bali category.
Today I want to tell you a bit more about a really cool website I found, where you can read about creative workshops in Bali with locals. Doing things with locals is the best, because they know what to do, where to find it and what is the best in Bali. So, these workshops with locals are great! It’s actually a website where you can find all sorts of things With Locals.
Creative Workshops in Bali Indonesia
When you visit Ubud, you will notice that the Balinese love to paint. They create all sorts of art work, which is really cool. It’s not so easy to take with you on the plane, but shipment with a boat is pretty cheap. Would you like to learn about Balinese painting? There is a really cool workshop called Practical Balinese Traditional Painting Class. Really cool to learn yourself how to paint like a Balinese!
Other things you can also learn in Bali is Fruit carving, surfing of course, cooking (definitely a very good workshop!), or get a lesson by a spiritual healer. I did a cooking class in Bali and learned how to make my own Indonesian peanut sauce. It was incredible! It’s also amazing to see how much they make them selfs and how many fresh ingredients you need. Here in Europe we use a lot of pre-made stuff but in Bali it’s all fresh!
So, if you are planning to go to Bali, definitely check out this great website where you find all kinds of stuff to do With Locals. That’s also the name of the website, pretty easy. I hope you will have a great time in Bali, but I’m sure you will.

Have you heard about ‘air plants’? I’ve seen them before, I think on Pinterest or in a magazine, but I didn’t know they called them ‘Air Plants’. Well, actually that is the literal translation from the Dutch name Luchtplantjes. Air plants do not need earth, they are very exotic and fresh. The most populair air plants if the Tillandsia but there are so many varieties which can be combined together. For example the Tillandsia Baileyi, a very exclusive epiphyte plant of the family. It’s a very green and sturdy plant with leaves that resemble tentacles. All the air plants are very fragile.read more
It is so wonderful to get inspiration for kids rooms. They are all so cute and cozy that I sometimes do not know what style I now like the most. Is it Scandinavian? Retro? Super colorful? Black and white? Sometimes I just want everything in my house! This retro kids room from Denmark is decorated with all sorts of items from different brands, shapes and colors. Inspiring: a beautiful and calm interior in Bloemendaal, Holland! Bloemendaal is a town near the beach and is very popular in the summer. When I think of Bloemendaal, I almost directly think of the beach, the beach bars and the salty air. When you look at this calm interior, the picture is exactly right. I get that calm and peaceful feeling what I also feel on the beach. Through the use of raw wood, natural fabrics and natural colors, this interior really evokes the atmosphere of the beach.read more
