Queenstown is a combination of an après-ski town, a small village, a shopping centre and a lake town. It’s the main tourist area in the south with so many extreme sport stuff that you can do. Bungee jumping, skydiving, mountain biking, jet boating, tramping, paragliding and so much more. It is all a bit expensive though. Besides that there are some great bars, restaurants, coffee shops and shopping opportunities.

Queenstown Gardens is a great place to walk around, watch the view over Lake Wakapitu and the surrounding mountains or, to play Disc Golf. It’s like golfing but with a Frisbee. Rent or buy a Frisbee and do the 18 hole track in the Queenstown gardens for free.

From Queenstown we drove up to Glenorchy. The drive is very hilly, windy and gorgeous! You should definitely stop for the good views here. The water in the lake is so blue and clear, it’s unbelievable. After the windy road comes Glenorchy. Glenorchy is a very small town and there is not much to do but the setting is great, people are nice and to experience New Zealand it’s a good place to go! It even has a few shops, some motels and one campgrounds. It can be very windy here and when we woke up the next morning, the mountains were covered with snow!

Safe travels, xx
