Starting a new year is always accompanied by new and good intentions for the year ahead. What did you do last year but would you like to do better? What would you do differently? What are your intensions for the new year and what will you certainly do more in the new year?
These questions I set myself often around New Year. The new year is coming up and the old, we conclude. What will going to happen in the new year? Where will we be in a year when we end 2015?
In the recent years we were in many different places during our trip around the world that lasted nearly 22 months. We have celebrated New Year in the Philippines and the following year in the Sydney Harbour. A great contrast between these two in terms of amount of people, fireworks but also geniality. So we stood in the Philippines with a lot less people to watch a 5 minute fireworks but you were embraced everywhere while in Sydney we arrived hours before to score a spot on the water to see the fireworks properly. A fireworks show for at least 20 minutes but then everyone walks away. Back home, to a bar or to a party. Much more anonymous than in the Philippines.
This year we were with friends in Maastricht, me with a glass of non-alcoholic prosecco and Bas with real bubbles. No more traveling, but at home with friends and a baby in the belly. A year brings many changes.
2015 will be a year of many more changes for us. The biggest change will naturally be our first baby. But in addition, it will also be very innovative for us to be back at home for more than a few months but for entire year, in one place and not to go back travelling.
A year ago I stopped after three months of intensive yoga to have done with the idea to pick up yoga later again. This did not happen in 2014 and that is certainly an intention that I would like to pick up again in this new year. Yoga gave me not only a lot more flexibility, but it gave me a whole new lifestyle where I felt much better than how I lived before. For example, the amount of food what you need is less but also the kind of food you’d like to eat changed during these three months. Your digestion and bowel movements change by practicing yoga more often and for me that was a big plus.
So, in this new year, I’m going to pick up Ashtanga Yoga again. Of course, this will only happen after childbirth ed.
What is your main good resolution for the new year?
